Frequently Asked Questions
A Plus BabyCare Xtra-i is a takaful protection plan by AIA PUBLIC Takaful that helps provide financial support for mothers and babies during pregnancy and after childbirth. The plan is designed to give coverage for certain pregnancy complications, hospitalisation, and selected baby conditions so parents can feel more financially prepared during unexpected situations.
A-Plus BabyCare Xtra-i helps protect both mother and baby during pregnancy and after birth. It provides financial support for pregnancy complications, newborn intensive care, congenital conditions, and child developmental conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and speech or learning delays, helping parents manage unexpected medical and care expenses.
A-Plus BabyCare Xtra-i and A-Plus BabyCare Xtra are both medical plans designed to support children’s healthcare needs. The main difference is that A-Plus BabyCare Xtra-i is structured based on Shariah principles under Takaful coverage, while A-Plus BabyCare Xtra is a conventional insurance plan. Parents can choose the option that best suits their financial and protection preferences.
Yes, you can apply for A Plus BabyCare Xtra-i if you are already pregnant, as long as you meet the eligibility requirements set by AIA PUBLIC Takaful. Approval is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan, including the stage of pregnancy and health assessment if required.
The plan provides coverage for selected baby conditions, including certain congenital and health-related conditions as stated in the certificate contract. Coverage details may vary depending on the certificate terms, so customers are encouraged to refer to their certificate contract for the full list of covered conditions.
Some situations may not be covered under the plan, such as pre-existing medical conditions, conditions not listed in the certificate, elective treatments, or exclusions stated in the certificate contract by AIA PUBLIC Takaful. Customers should review the certificate terms carefully to better understand the coverage limitations and exclusions.
A medical and health plan is a protection plan that helps cover the cost of medical treatment when you are hospitalised or require healthcare services due to illness, injury, or medical conditions. It generally pays for eligible expenses such as hospital room and board, surgery, doctor consultations, and other necessary medical treatments, depending on the terms of the plan. For A-Plus BabyCare Xtra-i, this protection is designed to provide financial support for maternity-related care and coverage for the baby’s health after birth, subject to the plan’s benefits and conditions.
Medical and health coverage is important because healthcare costs can be high and may create a financial burden, especially during emergencies, pregnancy, or childbirth complications. With medical protection, a large portion of eligible medical expenses can be covered by the plan, reducing out-of-pocket payments. It also ensures that individuals have access to timely and appropriate medical treatment without delay due to financial concerns, thereby providing financial security and peace of mind for families.
The contributions for A-Plus BabyCare Xtra-i are determined based on several key factors. These include the age of the covered person, the level of coverage selected, medical history, and the overall risk assessment conducted during underwriting. Additional benefits or riders attached to the plan may also affect the contribution amount. In general, plans with higher coverage or higher risk exposure will require higher contributions to reflect the level of protection provided.
Some plans offered by AIA PUBLIC Takaful may provide hospitalisation benefits, including coverage for medical treatment, hospital stays, or related healthcare expenses, depending on the certificate terms and selected benefits. Customers should refer to their certificate contract for detailed information on the scope of coverage.
If a contribution payment is missed, the certificate will normally still remain active during a grace period as stated in the certificate contract terms. If a payment is not made within this grace period, the certificate may lapse, which means the coverage will be terminated. In such cases, protection will no longer be in force unless the certificate is reinstated, subject to approval by AIA PUBLIC Takaful and any required conditions. It is important to ensure contributions are paid on time to maintain continuous coverage.
In general medical plans usually do not cover illnesses or health problems that you already had before participating in the Takaful certificate. These are called pre-existing conditions. Depending on your health history, AIA PUBLIC Takaful may still approve your application but could exclude certain illnesses, add a waiting period, or charge a higher contribution. Conditions that happen after your certificate starts are normally covered if your plan is active and the waiting period has passed.
