Test Your Fitness With the Vitality Fitness Assessment (VFA)

The AIA Vitality Fitness Assessment helps you identify your current fitness level. Members can complete this assessment for free at Fitness First and earn up to 3,000 AIA Vitality points per membership year. 

1. How to Book a Session

  • Step 1: On your AIA Vitality dashboard in the My AIA app, head to Assessments > Stay Active
  • Step 2: Select Book Appointment under the ‘AIA Vitality Fitness Assessment’ card. Please book at least 10 days in advance. 

2. You’ve Booked a Session! What’s Next?

  • A Fitness First Trainer will contact you within 3 working days to confirm your appointment. If you are not contactable, you will need to resubmit your booking via the app. 

3. What Do You Need to Prepare for Your Session?

  • Fitness attire with workout shoes
  • Arrive at your assigned Fitness First outlet at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Your trainer will guide you on the next steps thereafter. 
  • The assessment will take up to an hour

4. What Are the Exercises Covered in the In-Person VFA?

Your score at the end of the assessment will give you an idea of your fitness level and determine the AIA Vitality points you will be eligible for.

You will receive 750 AIA Vitality points for completing the fitness assessment, and another 750 points if you achieve at least an overall score of 12 from all the exercises. 

Exercise Description Score structure
Bike or Treadmill
A calorie-burning cardio exercise that tests your heart health Travel as far as you can in 10 minutes
*Subject to equipment and gender
Push Ups
An upper body strength exercise that utilises the main pushing muscles in our upper body; chest, anterior deltoid and triceps Perform as many repetitions as possible within 1 minute. Score of:
  • 1 – less than 15 repetitions
  • 2 – 15 to 25 repetitions
  • 3 – 26 to 40 repetitions
  • 4 – 41 and more repetitions
Plank
An isometric core exercises that focuses on holding the prone position on one’s hands or elbows Hold the position for as long as possible. Score of:
  • 1 – 30 to 59 seconds
  • 2 – 60 to 89 seconds
  • 3 – 90 to 119 seconds
  • 4 – 120 and more seconds
Star Pose
Balance test designed to test the body’s unilateral balance by balancing on one leg with arms stretched out & eyes closed Hold the position for as long as possible. Score of:
  • 1 – 30 to 59 seconds
  • 2 – 60 to 89 seconds
  • 3 – 90 to 119 seconds
  • 4 – 120 and more seconds
Sit & Reach
Common flexibility test where the participant sits with the legs straightened & slowly reach forward to assess how far the hands reach Reach as far forward as possible. Score of:
  • 1 – Knees
  • 2 – Ankles
  • 3 – Toes
  • 4 – Heels

5. You’ve Completed Your Assessment. What Happens Now?

  • Please allow up to 3 working days for your AIA Vitality points to be updated.
  • You can complete your second fitness assessment in another 6 months within your same membership year. 

Terms & Conditions

  • Do consult your doctor before starting any exercise regime, and practice caution when exercising. Avoid doing the exercises if there is risk of you hurting your joints or if you have joint injuries (i.e. ankles, knees, wrists, elbows, or shoulders). Remember, safety first!
  • By participating in this, you agree that you are performing the workout at your own risk. AIA Vitality or Fitness First will not be responsible or liable for any injuries or harm you sustain as a result of the workout.

The AIA Vitality Fitness Assessment can also be conducted virtually if you’re not ready to head to the gym in-person. Members can complete this assessment for free and earn up to 3,000 AIA Vitality points per membership year.

  • A Fitness First Trainer will contact you within 3 working days to confirm your appointment and your preferred video conference platform (Zoom / WhatsApp Video / MS Teams). If you are not contactable, you will need to resubmit your booking via the app.
  • Prior to your appointment, the trainer will provide you with the link for the session.
  • Login 5 minutes prior to the appointment.
  • Note that the assessment will take up to an hour.

3. What Do You Need to Prepare for Your Session?

Must Prepare

  • Fitness attire (sports shoes recommended)
  • Sufficiently charged device (laptop recommended)
  • Good internet connectivity (suggest near a WiFi port)
  • Sufficient distance between yourself and device, for the trainer to have a full view of you

Good to have

  • Exercise mat 
  • Bluetooth earphones
  • Water or isotonic drink for hydration
  • Towel

For an uninterrupted experience

  • To conduct the session in a quiet area within the house
  • Ensure clear space for your exercise to avoid knocking into things

4. What Are the Exercises Covered in the Virtual VFA?

  • 4 – 150 and more repetitions
