Frequently Asked Questions
A-Plus Recover-i is a takaful rider that provides you a lump sum payout if you become seriously sick or injured and need to stay in the hospital for a long time, such as being in the ICU for 5 consecutive days or hospitalised for 15 consecutive days. Unlike a normal medical card that pays hospital bills, this plan gives you money directly to help with daily expenses, lost income, family support, or recovery costs while you cannot work. For example, if your coverage is RM50,000 and you meet the claim conditions, you receive RM50,000 to use however you need.
A-Plus Recover-i provides lump sum payout if you are hospitalised for a long time due to a serious illness or injury. The money can help you pay for daily expenses, replace lost income, support your family, or cover recovery and caregiving costs while you focus on getting better.
A-Plus Recover-i is available for individuals aged between 14 days and 60 years old, subject to plan eligibility and underwriting requirements.
To make a claim, you will need to submit supporting medical documents such as hospital admission records, diagnosis reports, and proof of prolonged hospitalisation (e.g. ICU stay or minimum hospital stay duration as required under the certificate).
Once the documents are submitted, AIA PUBLIC Takaful will review your claim based on the certificate terms and conditions. If approved, the lump sum payout will be paid directly to you, and you can use it for any financial needs during your recovery period.
A medical or health plan is a protection plan that helps you financially when you get sick, injured, or need medical treatment. Instead of paying all the hospital and treatment costs on your own, the insurance or takaful plan helps reduce the burden by providing coverage based on the plan you choose. It gives you peace of mind so you can focus on getting better without worrying too much about medical expenses.
Medical treatment and hospital costs are becoming more expensive every year, especially for serious illnesses, surgeries, or ICU stays. Without proper protection, these unexpected expenses can affect your savings and finances. Medical coverage is important because it helps you prepare for emergencies and ensures you can get the treatment you need without putting too much financial stress on yourself or your family.
You should choose a medical plan based on your budget, health needs, age, and lifestyle. It is important to look at what the plan covers, the claim limits, waiting periods, and whether you already have existing medical protection. For example, AIA A-Plus Recover-i is suitable for people who want extra financial support during prolonged hospitalisation, especially when recovery may affect their income or daily expenses.
Medical plan helps cover costs related to treatment, hospital stays, and recovery when you are sick or injured. Life insurance or takaful product, on the other hand, provides a financial payout to you or your loved ones if something serious happens, such as death, total permanent disability, or critical illness depending on the certificate. In simple terms, medical plan helps you manage healthcare expenses, while life protection helps protect your family’s financial future.
A-Plus Recover-i provides a lump sum cash payout if you are hospitalised for a prolonged period due to a serious illness or unexpected incident, such as staying in the ICU for at least 5 consecutive days or being hospitalised for at least 15 consecutive days. The payout can help support your daily expenses, recovery costs, or loss of income while you are unable to work.
Yes, you may claim more than once under A-Plus Recover-i, subject to the terms and conditions of the certificate. The plan allows coverage of up to 200% of your coverage amount for prolonged hospitalisation claims. After a successful claim, the coverage can reset after one year, which means you may continue to stay protected for future eligible hospitalisation events.
No, A-Plus Recover-i is not meant to replace a medical card. A medical card is still important because it helps pay for actual hospital and treatment expenses. A-Plus Recover-i works differently because it provides a lump sum payout when you experience prolonged hospitalisation. This payout can help support your recovery expenses, household commitments, or loss of income. It works best as an additional layer of protection together with your existing medical card.
In general medical plans usually do not cover illnesses or health problems that you already had before participating in the Takaful certificate. These are called pre-existing conditions. Depending on your health history, AIA / AIA PUBLIC Takaful may still approve your application but could exclude certain illnesses, add a waiting period, or charge a higher contribution. Conditions that happen after your certificate starts are normally covered if your plan is active and the waiting period has passed.
