{{label}}We know things can get complicated, especially with certain complex terms popping. To help you better understand and navigate the world of insurance, we’ve compiled a list of terms and their definitions:
A portion of the medical cost you pay after your deductible has been met. Co-insurance is a way of saying that you and AIA each pay a share of eligible costs that add up to 100 percent.
An illness that has been diagnosed or has displayed symptons after the waiting period of the policy.
Pre-planned surgery/treatment procedures that allows a patient to be admitted to the hospital and discharged on the same day or hospitalisation for at least 6 hours and less than 24-hours. Medical procedures must be deemed medically necessary and duly referred by a qualified medical practitioner.
The amount you pay each visit/ per year for most eligible medical services or medications before your health plan begins to share in the cost of covered services.
“Medically Necessary” shall mean a medical service which is:
(a).consistent with the diagnosis and customary medical treatment for a covered Disability, and
(b).in accordance with standards of good medical practice, consistent with current standard of professional medical care, and of proven medical benefits, and
(c).not for the convenience of the Insured Member or the Physician, and unable to be reasonably rendered out of hospital (if admitted as an inpatient), and
(d).not of an experimental, investigational or research nature, preventive or screening nature, for which the charges are fair and reasonable and customary for the Disability.
When a person suffers an irreversible sickness or injury that prevents them from working.
Treatment at a hospital, clinic or medical facility that does not require admission to hospital for an overnight stay.
Pre-authorisation process is done prior to hospital admission to determine whether your insurance policy / takaful certificate benefits can cover the estimated expenses that will be incurred during your hospitalisation.
