    1. What is AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief provides a lump sum cash relief if there are damages to the car owned by the Persons enrolled in this relief (Covered Person) due to floods within Malaysia. The assistance available is provided in the table below:

    Cash Relief for Car Damages due to Flood

    In the event the Car owned by the Covered Person is damaged due to Flood within Malaysia and the Car needs to be repaired at a motor repair workshop, We shall pay the amount as shown in the table above.

    Notes:

    1. AIA+ app user/non-AIA+ app user status of the Covered Person at point of submission of request for relief will be used to determine the relief amount payable.
    2. Each Covered Person is limited to signing up for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief only ONCE during the coverage period of AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief.
    3. During the coverage period of AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief, only 1 flood event is eligible.
    4. Waiting period of 14 days from the registration date applies
    5. AIA’s Banjir Kilat Relief is subject to a total payout limit of RM 1million (aggregated between all the free covers offered by AIA Bhd., AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd., and AIA General Berhad).
    6. This relief program is covered by AIA General Berhad.
    7. Please refer to Appendix 1 for the definition of the capitalised terms.

    2. When can I sign up for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    You can sign up for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief from 1 October until 31 December 2023.


    3. Who is eligible for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    To be eligible for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief, the customer needs to be:

    1. A Malaysian citizen residing in Malaysia; and
    2. Between the age of 18 and 70.

    4. How can I sign up for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    You can reach out to any AIA Life Planner to sign up through the dedicated microsite.

    Provide the relevant information below via the dedicated microsite during the registration period:

      1. Full Name as per NRIC
      2. NRIC Number
      3. Phone number
      4. E-mail Address
      5. Location
      6. Where did you hear about this

    If you do not know any AIA Life Planner, please email us at MY.Customer@aia.com and provide your Name, Contact No. and Current Location (e.g., Kepong, Kuala Lumpur) and include “AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief” in the email subject.


    5. What is the coverage period of AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    The coverage period of AIA’s Banjir Kilat Relief is effective upon successful registration until 31 January 2024, or upon reaching a total payout of RM1 million (for AIA Bhd., AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd., and AIA General Berhad, combined), whichever is earlier. The total payout limit of RM1 million is aggregated between all the free covers which are offered by Us. AIA reserves the right to withdraw AIA’s Banjir Kilat Relief at any time with prior notice.


    6. I am a Malaysian and currently residing outside of Malaysia. Am I eligible for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    No. AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief is only eligible for Malaysians residing in Malaysia.


    7. My company-owned car is damaged due to flood. Am I eligible for the cash relief under AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    No. AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief only covers damages to cars which are individually owned by the Covered Person. Any damages to company or business owned cars are not covered.


    8. My car has been damaged due to a flood and needs to be sent to a workshop for repair. Do I need to send it to a panel workshop to be eligible for the cash relief under AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    No. You may send it to any motor repair workshops within Malaysia. You may refer to Q15 for more details on how to make a request for relief and for the list of documents required for submission.


    9. Do I need to provide my car number plate during the registration for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    No. This information is only required at point of submission of request for relief. You may refer to Q15 for more details on how to make a submission and for the list of documents required for submission.

    Please note that the cash relief is only payable for one car and for one time only.


    10. I have signed up for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief by providing my information but the car which has been damaged due to a flood belongs to my husband. Can I make a submission for relief for this car under AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    No. The cash relief is only payable for a car which is owned by the person who signed up for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief (i.e., belonging to you, the Covered Person). A copy of existing Motor insurance policy / Takaful certificate is required at point of submission of relief to show your ownership of the car. You may refer to Q15 for more details on how to make a request for relief and for the list of documents required for submission.


    11. Are there any exclusions to AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?

    No. However, a waiting period of fourteen (14) days from the registration date shall apply.


    12. How will I know if I have been successfully enrolled for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief and how do I check on the available assistance?

    If your application is successful, you will receive a welcome email within 14 working days from the registration date.

    You will then be required to download the AIA+ mobile app via Google Play, App Store or Huawei App Gallery and register your AIA+ account. Once completed, you may view the relief amount via the AIA+ app. You are highly encouraged to download the AIA+ mobile app to enjoy higher relief amount for AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief.


    13. I downloaded the AIA+ app and noticed that AIA BHD. is stated as my Company Name and that I am an employee of AIA BHD. I don’t understand why AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief is under Employee Benefit.

    Do not worry. This is where you can view details of AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief in the AIA+ app.

    Follow the guide below and you will be able to see that your details are shown (point 6) as below:

    14. I have received the welcome e-mail confirming that I have been enrolled into AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief but why am I not able to register for the AIA+ account?

    Please ensure that you have provided the correct information via the dedicated microsite when you sign up for this relief, including full name as per NRIC, NRIC Number, phone number and e-mail address.

    If you are unsure, please resubmit the application with the correct information and contact your respective AIA Life Planner or e-mail MY.Customer@aia.com and include “AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief” in the email subject for assistance.


    15. How do I make a request for relief under AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief?
    •   Please refer to the Table of Documents below for the list of documents required when submitting a request for relief.
    •   For Customers: Submit relevant documents via email at MY.Customer@aia.com.
    •   For Life Planners: Submit relevant documents via email at my.assist@aia.com.
    •   Please indicate in the Subject Matter: <POLICY/CERTIFICATE NUMBER> - AIA's Banjir Kilat Relief

    Table of Documents

    List of documents required when submitting a request for relief:

     Documents
    • A copy of Malaysian Identity Card with front and back for Covered Person and Payee (if different from Covered Person)
    • A copy of the first page of bank statement or account passbook indicating Payee Bank Account Number, Account Holder Name, Bank Name for E-payment purpose
    • A copy of existing Motor insurance policy / Takaful certificate (to show ownership of the car)
    • Photo of the car damage (before and after repair, which captures both the car interior, exterior and car number plate)
    • Original receipts & bills with itemised breakdown

    Note:

    1. The request for relief must be submitted within 60 days from the flood event date.
    2. We may request additional information and/or supporting documents when required; your early response will expedite the processing of your request.

    16. Why has my application for relief been rejected?

    One of the reasons is that you may have provided the incorrect information during the application. Please resubmit the application with the correct information and contact your respective Life Planner or email MY.Customer@aia.com for assistance.


    Appendix 1 Definitions

    All ages referred to under this relief shall be the age of Covered Person’s last birthday.

    “Car” shall mean the private car used for social, domestic and pleasure purposes and for the Covered Person’s limited business use such as getting to and from work, and meeting customers.

    “Flood” shall mean the overflowing or deviation from their normal channels of either natural or artificial water courses, bursting or overflowing of public water mains and any other flow or accumulation of water originating from outside the building. 

    “Covered Person” shall mean the person(s) covered whom must meet the following eligibility and has/have successfully applied for this relief:

    • Age last birthday at the time of registration is between eighteen (18) years old and seventy (70) years old; and a Malaysian citizen residing in Malaysia.

    “We”, “Our” or “Us” shall mean AIA Bhd., AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd., and AIA General Bhd.

    Whenever the context requires, masculine form shall apply to feminine and singular term shall include the plural.
