Important Notice to AIA Travel Insurance Policyholders

Dear Valued Customers,

AIA is closely monitoring the recent developments in the Middle East following the escalation of tensions since 28 February 2026. As airlines respond to the evolving situation, travellers may experience flight rerouting, delays or cancellations for trips to, from, or through the region.

We understand that this may create uncertainty, especially if you have upcoming travel plans.  Your safety and peace of mind are important to us, and we want to help you navigate this situation with confidence.

Below, you’ll find guidance on how your coverage  under AIA Travel PA, AIA Travel PA Plus, TNG SafeTrip and Maxis Travel Care may be affected. While this advisory focuses on the Middle East, please note that the same exclusions apply should similar situations arise in other regions impacted by war or armed conflict.

How does this situation affect travel insurance coverage?

Events that arise directly or indirectly from war, hostilities or war‑like operations are not covered under our travel insurance policies. This means that if your flight is cancelled, rerouted, or delayed – or if you incur extra accommodation or transport costs – and these disruptions are caused by war, hostilities or war-like operations, they will fall under the policy’s general exclusions.

We understand this can be disappointing, so we want to be as transparent as possible. For your reference, our policies include a general exclusion related to: “war, invasion, act of foreign enemy, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, rebellion, insurrection, military or usurped power.”

If my trip has not started, what options do I have?

If you purchased a Single Trip policy and your travel has not yet begun, you may request a full refund of your premium as long as we receive your cancellation request before the policy effective date, in line with your policy’s refund provisions.

To request a cancellation, please send us a signed cancellation letter through your Life Planner, or submit it directly to Wisma AIA (level 6, Policy Owner Service Department).

Please make sure your letter includes:
(a)  Your policy number
(b)  A clear statement requesting policy cancellation
(c)  The policyowner’s signature

Once your new travel dates are confirmed, you’re welcome to purchase a new policy that fits your updated travel plans.

Please note: We’re unable to postpone or defer an existing policy. A new policy will be required for revised travel dates.

What should I know if I have already started my trip?

If you are already travelling, please note that claims arising from war or hostilities remain excluded under our travel insurance policies. We understand this may be stressful, so we encourage you to follow your airline’s guidance on any route changes and stay updated through  official travel advisories for your safety.

Are travel disruptions such as flight rerouting or cancellations covered?

If your flight is rerouted, delayed or cancelled due to airspace restrictions or conflict-related developments, the following expenses are not claimable when they arise from war‑related events, in line with policy exclusions:
(a)  Travel or baggage delay, including any additional accommodation or transport expenses resulting from rerouting
(b)  Costs of replacement flight tickets due to airspace closures or other war‑related cancellations.

We know these situations can be frustrating, and we want to be transparent about how your coverage applies. Your policy’s terms, conditions and exclusions continue to apply as stated in your contract.
