2022

Jom! Ceria Bersama Vitality

On Saturday, 24th September, AIA Malaysia hosted its first health and wellness community event - Jom! Ceria Bersama Vitality with the residents of PPR Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur. The event was organised to encourage our communities to take care of their mental and physical health in a fun and engaging way, in line with our commitment of helping Malaysians live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

 

More than 100 residents as well as 15 AIA volunteers had a fun-filled morning participating in various activities such as Zumba, traditional games and lucky draw sessions while children got to express their creativity in a colouring activity. Additionally, residents also had the opportunity to purchase fresh vegetables and fruits from Pasar Grub, a social enterprise that focuses on repurposing surplus vegetables, as well as undergo free basic health checks by medical doctors from our NGO partner, the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA).

Silver Sponsor – Nicol David Organisation

AIA Malaysia became a proud sponsor of the Nicol David Organisation (NDO) which is a non-profit organisation co-founded by eight-time world squash champion and AIA Malaysia ambassador, Datuk Nicol David together with Mariana de Reyes, a former Colombian squash player. NDO seeks to nurture and empower girls and boys from B40 and M40 families through the power of sports and education. We believe that by supporting NDO through its “Little Legends” lead programme, we can enable more Malaysians particularly the younger generation to live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.

2021

Get Fit for Charity

Over 8,000 runners across Malaysia rallied together to pledge their support for the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) by joining a contest initiated by District Race Malaysia by AIA Vitality, where they dedicated their own personal fitness journey towards a common cause.

 

The “Get Fit For Charity” contest, which took place from 12 April to 16 May 2021, showed the generous and selfless side of many District Race participants, as they ran, jogged and walked many kilometres to help raise funds for NCSM. With AIA Malaysia pledging RM1 for every 100 points scored, the participants rose to the challenge and even hit the collective target of 5 million points ahead of schedule.

 

This paved the way for AIA to donate a cumulative total of RM50,000 to NCSM to support the NGO’s work on providing education, care, and support services for people affected by cancer, as well as raising public awareness.

#AIAStrongerTogether x Nicol David for International Women’s Day

“Alone we are strong. Together we are stronger.” Inspired by these powerful words, we commemorated International Woman’s Day 2021 with a month-long #AIAStrongerTogether campaign together with our Ambassador, Datuk Nicol David. One of the initiatives under the campaign was a social media challenge which saw Nicol kicking off a “chain of support” on Instagram by sharing pictures of the strong women in her life and nominating other women to take on this challenge with the hashtag #AIAStrongerTogether.

 

For every hashtag or nomination received from this challenge, AIA Malaysia pledged to donate RM10 to the Women Of Will (WOW) organisation. The challenge received an overwhelming response from women all over the country which in turn helped us raise RM25,000 for WOW. Heng Zee Wang, Chief Marketing Officer of AIA Malaysia together with Nicol presented the donation to WOW on 8th April 2021.

Food Aid by MERCY Malaysia

The pandemic has taken a toll on many lives where the much-needed movement restrictions have displaced workers and affected daily activities such as going to work and school.

 

In our continuous efforts to assist those impacted, we collaborated with MERCY Malaysia to offer our assistance in the form of food aid and hygiene essentials to impacted B40 beneficiaries. Through the collaboration, we successfully distributed the items to a total of 700 families who were displaced by the floods earlier this year, followed by another distribution in September, where we reached out to help 1000 families based in Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor and Pahang.

FINCO’s COVID-19 Relief Initiative

In September 2021, AIA Malaysia extended our support to the Financial Industry Collective Outreach (FINCO) for its COVID-19 Relief Initiative to help students and families who were in urgent need of support. Most of the students were from the B40 communities who have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through supporting this initiative, we reached out to 168 families based in states across Malaysia such as Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak. These families were provided with cashless aid via their MyKad, a facility provided by FINCO through MyKasih Foundation, allowing the families to use the amount provided to purchase necessities.

2020

AIA Charity Day

The AIA Charity Day has been organised on a yearly basis to raise funds for those in need, supporting various causes. In 2019, we expanded this initiative and collaborated with 14 NGOs to raise funds for these NGOs. This special occasion gave our employees the opportunity to help raise funds for the NGOs involved whilst learning more about their unique causes. We raised over RM230,000 from the Charity Day for the participating NGOs such as Women of Will, MERCY Malaysia, the Cleft Lip and Palate Association of Malaysia, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, Orphancare and many more.

Semarakkan Raya Bersama AIA PUBLIC Takaful

In May 2020, AIA PUBLIC Takaful in collaboration with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), distributed 1000 food packs and necessities to 1000 deserving families that have faced financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order. This initiative was organised to lighten the burden of the impacted families and to help them with their Raya preparations and celebrations.

AIA Vitality Weekly Challenge X MERCY

AIA Vitality members were given the opportunity to donate their RM10 reward as a contribution to the MERCY COVID-19 Pandemic Fund.  For this initiative, AIA Malaysia matched each donation made by AIA Vitality members and successfully raised RM100,000 for the fund.
