2022

AIA Cares Community Squad

The AIA Cares Community Squad is a community programme by AIA Malaysia which was introduced in 2021 with the objective to provide daily necessities and vegetables to urban B40 families while supporting various causes championed by local social enterprises and our NGO partners. This year, through a collaboration with Women of Will (WOW), the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) and Pasar Grub, we have expanded the programme to support more beneficiaries with a total of 4000 packs of food aid distributed to those in need.

 

Additionally, more than 25 AIA Life Planners volunteered their time and effort to pack boxes of food items that were distributed to the families within the vicinity of Klang Valley. Four (4) AIA Malaysia ExCo members, including Chief Marketing Officer, Heng Zee Wang, Chief Financial Officer, Chai Tze Siang, Chief Corporate Solutions Officer, Tung Hsiao Ley, and Chief Investment Officer, Richard Lin, also joined the food distribution activity and spent time visiting the beneficiaries. 

2021

AIA Cares Community Squad

AIA Cares Community Squad is a community programme introduced in early 2021, in collaboration with AIA Malaysia’s esteemed NGO partner Women Of Will (WOW) and social enterprise Pasar Grub. This year-long initiative was rolled out with the objective of providing daily necessities to urban B40 families who are in need, while also extending our support to the causes championed by WOW and Pasar Grub.

 

In March, AIA Cares Community Squad successfully distributed cloth facemasks, healthy baked goods, vegetables and fruits sourced from WOW and Pasar Grub to 500 recipients located in the Klang Valley area, benefitting more than 2500 household members in total. Our efforts to support the community and encourage them to eat healthily especially during the time of pandemic continue as we carried out distribution to 1000 more families in two other sessions in the second half of 2021.

2020

AIA Cares: Financial Assistance to Healthcare Frontliners

In appreciation of the sacrifices and selfless contributions made by our country’s COVID-19 Healthcare Frontliners, AIA Malaysia pledged RM2 million to provide financial support to all doctors, nurses and hospital staff working at the MOH designated hospitals and screening facilities involved in the handling of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. The financial support was offered from 1 March 2020 and ended on 30 September.

 

As at 30 September 2020, we have disbursed RM317,000 to frontliners consisting of doctors, nurses and hospital staff who were infected by COVID-19 while in the line of duty in Malaysia.

Food Aid For Sabah – AIA X MRA

The extended Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) affected Malaysians in many ways and this is especially true for the B40 community in Sabah whose livelihood have unfortunately been gravely impacted.

 

Understanding the predicament that they are in, we reached out to the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) to offer our assistance. On 20 November 2020, in collaboration with MRA, we successfully completed the distribution of food items to a total of 1300 families based in Kota Kinabalu, Semporna, Lahad Datu, Kunak, Sipitang, Beaufort, Tawau and Sandakan.
