Our AIA Malaysia Community
AIA Bhd. officially launched AIA Touching Lives, its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme on 15 November 2013 with the setting up of the AIA Touching Lives Fund. An allocation of RM400,000 for the Fund was contributed by employees through various fund-raising activities held in 2013 and the company via a collaboration with AIA’s Facebook fans to encourage the public’s participation.
In conjunction with the launch of the Fund, AIA Bhd. reaffirmed its commitment towards two causes it has championed over the years by providing financial aid to children with congenital heart illnesses and those born with cleft, conditions which afflict some children from birth but which can be corrected, thereby enabling them to go on to lead healthy lives.
In the lead up to the launch, employees contributed their time, energy and resources to participate in a host of fund-raising activities and succeeded in raising RM140,000 for the two causes. In recognition of their efforts, AIA Bhd. matched the amount raised by its employees. In light of the very special help such efforts give to these children, AIA Group Chief Executive Mark Tucker pledged a further RM120,000 on behalf of AIA Group, which brought the total allocation in the AIA Touching Lives Fund to RM400,000.
A community page on Facebook was also set up to raise awareness of the two causes and the financial assistance that is available to those in need. To encourage the public to participate in the programme, AIA Bhd. pledged to donate RM1 towards the AIA Touching Lives Fund for every 'Like' the community page received by 13 November 2013. We are pleased to share that the community page garnered over 113,000 Likes at the end of the campaign period.
The fund-raising efforts by AIA Bhd. and its employees as well as life planners continue. If you know of a child in need of financial aid to correct a heart defect or cleft condition, please contact
