Congratulations, you're pregnant!
Here are some of the changes your body will go through and which signs you should take note of:
Your first trimester is a formative stage for your body and you will be experiencing many changes. Enjoy this process and find out about what you will be expecting in these 12 weeks:
You may not look pregnant during your first trimester but your body will undergo an enormous change, as it will learn how to accommodate a growing baby!
The fertilized egg rapidly divides into layers of cells and implants in the wall of your womb where it carries on growing
These layers of cells become an embryo
Your hormone levels will start to change significantly
You may hear your baby's heartbeat by the 6th week
Your baby's bones and muscles slowly start to form by the end of the 12th week
Lie down and place a cool compress on your head
Sleep on your side instead of your back while keeping one or both knees bent
Stick to regular sleep schedule daily
Avoid foods with strong odors and eat small meals every two to three hours
Most people confirm their pregnancy with a doctor's appointment
Usually 6 to 8 weeks after their last menstruation
Pregnancy is further confirmed by another urine test and blood test
Your baby's heartbeat will be checked through an ultrasound or a Doppler machine
Your nutrition level and immune system will be checked as well by your doctor
This indicates the health of your baby in your first 3 months of pregnancy
The risk of miscarriage is high in this trimester
Avoid secondhand smoking and abstain from alcohol
Cut out caffeine as it is diuretic that washes calcium out of your system before they can be absorbed
Avoid Deli meat and shellfish as they may contain bacteria called listeria monocytogenes
