What is AIA Vitality and how does it work? Here’s how you can claim your share of rewards just by staying healthy:
Quite simply, AIA Vitality is a health programme that rewards you for your healthy lifestyle choices, by providing you with the tools and motivation you need for the journey. Think: 50% off flight tickets, discounts for fitness bands, health checks and more. It’s ideal for those who need some motivation to start their fitness journey, or want to get more out of their existing one.

Here’s how it works:
Jane, 27, works in an office. That means she’s in her seat almost eight hours each day (except for the times when she goes for a smoke break). She has a gym membership, but doesn’t use it often. She knows she has to live a #fitlife for the sake of herself and her loved ones, but she lacks the motivation and direction to start or sustain a good habit.
The Starting Line
Jane’s journey begins with a health review that’s done through the AIA Vitality app, where her answers on her fitness & health will reveal her Vitality Age. If she were leading a healthy lifestyle, her Vitality Age would be similar to her real age or lower. However, her Vitality Age was 32 years old – 5 years older than she really is biologically! This could be due to her lack of exercise and poor diet, which have aged her more than she really is.
She wants to confirm if these results really do reflect her current health status, so she heads to BP Healthcare the next day for a basic health check. With her AIA Vitality membership, she’s eligible for up to 50% discount on health checks, advanced screenings and vaccinations at BP Healthcare.
The results show that Jane has slightly elevated blood pressure and high cholesterol, which she decides to work on with the help of the programme.
Jane’s Journey
The easiest way to stay healthy and get rewards is by walking 7,500 steps each day, which will give her 50 points. Syncing her mobile phone health app (such as Apple Health for iPhones and S Health for Android devices) to her AIA Vitality app, she can now track the total number of steps she has taken, or how many more steps she needs to achieve her daily goal. Along the way, she can see the total number of points she has earned.
Soon, Jane finds herself earning 50 points almost every day! If she earns 250 points for two weeks in a row, she can earn a reward via the AIA Vitality Weekly Challenge app. Currently she can select from either a free TGV Cinemas movie pass or a RM10 Boost Juice voucher for every 2 weeks of completed challenges.
Going Further
Since she has started working out more frequently, she felt it was also time for her to invest in a fitness band that will allow her to track not only her steps but also her heart rate and calories burnt. Guess what? With her membership, she’s entitled to 25% off fitness trackers from Fitbit and Garmin. What a steal!
Jane decides that hitting the gym regularly would help with her journey towards achieving her goals. She decides to sign up for a new gym membership and finds out that activating her AIA Vitality Fitness First gym benefit allows her to enjoy 20% off a 12-month membership fee. By working out at the gym at least 24 times every 3 months, she would also be entitled to receive another 30% cashback on her membership fee – bringing her possible savings to 50% a year! It was difficult at first, but she made a commitment to work out at the gym at least twice a week and now it has become a regular routine. On top of the discount, she also can earn 100 points for each gym visit.
It’s more fun to work out with other people, so Jane adds some of her colleagues as friends on the AIA Vitality Weekly Challenge app. Together, they could work towards a shared goal each week and cheer each other on. They also made sure to go for organized fitness events which allows them to also earn AIA Vitality Points. As the AIA Vitality membership terms and conditions only allows her to earn points for one activity per day, based on whichever activity could give her the highest points, Jane plans out her activity schedule strategically so that she and her friends can maximise the points they earn.
The Next Level
After a few months on the programme, Jane has collected about 10,000 points to move from Bronze to Silver Status – a fantastic feat! But she wants to move up her status as quickly as possible – to Gold and finally Platinum – as she knows that a higher level of membership will give her better discounts and rewards.
