Contact AIA5 easy ways to eat healthier while dining out
1.
Practice portion control: Most restaurant portions are usually bigger than what your body needs. Yes, it tastes delicious but listen to your body when it tells you it is full. A simple way is to divide your plate. Set aside the portion you'd usually eat and take the rest home for later.
2.
Choose water or unsweetened tea or coffee: Quench your thirst the healthy way. Swap the soda for unsweetened drinks or water. Not only are they refreshing, you get to skip the extra calories.
3.
Stay away from fast food: Most of us know that fast food has a bad rep. It’s high in fats, sodium, and calories while offering little in the way of nutrition. If you eat too much over a long period, it can lead to health issues like high blood pressure, and also weight gain.
4.
Ask for more vegetables: Try to go for more veggies instead of getting extra rice or noodles. They contain beneficial nutrients with less calories. They are also high with fibre to keep you full longer and prevents overeating. When you eat out next time, opt for a side of ulam, kerabu, raita, stir fried vegetables, salad and many more!
5.
Opt for healthier dishes: When we say healthier dishes, we mean food that’s grilled, baked, stir-fried, or steamed. Try to avoid food that’s deep-fried, battered, or sugar-coated. If it's prepared in a healthier way, it has less calories and is much better for our waistline.
Eating out doesn’t mean that you have to ditch your healthy diet. There are still many ways that we can do to improve the quality of our meals. Apply these tips when you eat out the next time!
