Always told yourself you’d go for a morning run but hit the snooze button instead? Sounds like something Chen Caesar, 27, is familiar with, who says he’s guilty as charged when it comes to making excuses for working out.
However, all that changed when he decided to join the AIA Vitality programme in 2016, after which Caesar became more motivated to take better charge of his health. “I’m more committed to exercising regularly where I make it a point to walk or jog at the park when I’m free,” says Caesar.
When asked what got him hooked on the programme, Caesar says, “I can achieve the daily step goal easily and I get rewarded from the weekly challenges as well. It’s like a motivational health coach that rewards you with fun benefits!”
What are some rewards Caesar has enjoyed so far? “I’ve been earning free TGV Cinemas movie passes and Boost Juice vouchers. I even got 20% cash back from my A-Life Cancer 360 insurance premium,” he says.
More importantly though, the biggest reward that Caesar says he’s received is being able to influence his family to also join the programme, inspiring them to have a healthier lifestyle together. Especially his father, who before joining AIA Vitality, wasn’t a huge fan of regular exercise. So much so that he would often give excuses like knee aches to avoid being active.
Fortunately, with Caesar’s influence, his father soon realised the importance of getting healthy. If previously his aches and pains prevented him from being active, today he is able to walk regularly with discomfort being a thing of the past! “My father has been walking for months now,” says the proud son. “I can see a change in his lifestyle, which is great. Now, he’s also a Gold AIA Vitality member just like me!”
Needless to say, the guy who previously struggled to find his motivation to work out is a shadow of who Caesar is now. Now hands up – who wants to lead a better and healthier lifestyle?
