AIG International Overseas Claims Services

With our worldwide web of AIG companies' offices and affiliates / association, it is possible for us to service the Insured / Owner / Beneficiary of a policy issued by our Individual Life or Accident & Health division of AIA (or affiliates) while they temporarily reside or are in transit beyond the territory of the issuing company and are not expected to return before the claim is settled.

The AIG International Overseas Claims Service offers support services and assistance for claims on a cross-territorial and Division basis for the following insured events:

  • death of any insured life
  • medical indemnity and hospitalisation
  • temporary and permanent disability
  • accidental personal injury or dismemberment
  • critical illness or dreaded disease event
  • travel insurance emergency relating to any of the above insured events

The service encompasses American International Assurance Company Limited, American International Underwriters Limited, American Life Insurance Company, AIG Life Company and all other affiliated member Companies, Divisions or derivatives operating under different identities worldwide but offering similar insurance products or lines of business anywhere within the AI Group of Companies.

The following terminology will be used throughout this Directory of Services:

Issuing Company hereafter referred to as IC is the AIG Company, which holds the principal policy of insurance or service commitment with the customer.

Servicing Company hereafter referred to as SC will be the local AIG Company called upon either by the customer or the Issuing Company [IC] to help and support the claim process.

Availability of service : The service will only be available to customers of AIG who are legally and beneficially entitled to any claim proceeds as Insured, Policy Owner or legally nominated Beneficiary of the Insured. Nominees to receive claim proceeds who are not established to be legally entitled may be considered on an exceptional basis subject to agreement between the SC and IC and upon satisfaction of adequate authorisation formalities.

The service is intended to support customers and their families during any period or domicile overseas, whereupon they are in urgent need of assistance and are unable to return to their home territory to complete and conclude the claims process directly with the IC or who are now permanently domiciled and cannot conveniently do so.

In situations involving permanent overseas domicile and where lasting long term claims obligations arise, special arrangements may need to be established and agreed between IC and SC on a case-by-case basis to support the protracted claims process.

Contact Person(s) : For each IC or SC and AIG Division there is a designated Contact Person who will act as co-ordinator or who will personally handle any claim.
